Michael Gonzales
San Antonio, Texas

Michael Gonzales, ADN, CCRN, Critical Care Unit, Nurse Manager Nix Health System has servde as the critical care consultant and clinical liaison for the St. Philip's College LVN-ADN Mobility Program since 1998.

Michael has worked collegially to incorporate the didactic objectives regarding hemodynamic monitoring and "trouble-shooting the mechanical ventilator" into the clinical setting in a seamless manner. He along with his staff RN's have served as mentors to the ADN students, which facilitated their exposure to various critical care health deviations and the required treatment modalities.

Our students have been given opportunities to provide care to clients with such conditions as cardiogenic shock; pre and post CABG surgery; and CHF. The students being in the CCU also had facilitated lethal dysrrthymias recognition and exposure to the approved ACLS treatment algorithms thanks to Michael, who is the ACLS instructor for the hospital.
Furthermore, Michael has provided invaluable ACLS sanctioned expertise to the students and St. Philip's College, which was carried out in our new simulation lab.

Therefore, St Philip's College LVN-ADN Mobility Program wholeheartedly nominated and are greatly appreciative of his selection as " Outstanding Clinical Nurse of the Month for Texas Organization for Associate Degree Nursing". Mr. Gonzales is a graduate of San Antonio Community College,1977.
